VLC - 2007

In October, Lori and Jaime attended the March of Dimes' National Volunteer Leadership Conference for a second straight year. This time, it was held in Washington, D.C., which meant we got to take part in Lobby Day on Capitol Hill.

We weren't just attendees, either. We also helped run a session titled "Every Baby Has A Story -- Learn How To Enhance The Power Of Your Story To Benefit The March of Dimes." This was extra meaningful considering the March of Dimes' new national campaign is based around "Every Baby Has A Story."

Below are some photos from the trip.

Here we are at the FDR Memorial, significant because he started the March of Dimes to cure polio. The March of Dimes remains the only organization that has met its stated goal.

Getting ready to lobby some Congressmen.

Here we are with Anne Roosevelt, FDR's granddaughter and a current board member for the organization. This was during Lobby Day, in the Caucus Room of the Russell Senate Office Building -- the same room where the Senate has held hearings on Watergate, Ollie North and the Iran-Contra scandal and the sinking of the Titanic.

Here we are with comedian-actress Sherri Shepherd, co-host of "The View" and a mother of a preemie. She spoke at the closing ceremony.
